Stuff From Around Arkansas, May 15

Because DumbArkie reminded me we haven't checked in on the Arkansas Patriot Girls lately.
Because DumbArkie reminded me we haven't checked in on the Arkansas Patriot Girls lately.

Never Mind: Hey, remember those five swine flu cases that were diagnosed in Arkansas last week? Turns out four of them tested negative. I imagine swine flu is pretty embarrassed right now, and all the other pandemics are making fun of him for being so lame. (AP)

Robocop: Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel is cracking down on those obnoxious auto warranty robocalls, and good for him. (AP)

Pistol-Whipped: Sens. Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor voted for measure to allow concealed carry permit holders to pack heat in national parks. Video includes guest appearance from Arkansas Concealed Carry blogger John Anderson. (KARK)

Jew Hear That?: There’s Arkansas blogger and newsboy Zack Stovall chattin’ it up with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow on Sen. Kim Hendren’s disparaging “That Jew” reference to a New York senator. In a related story, “That Jew!” sounds like it could be the name of a particularly hilarious sitcom. (Unfamous First Words)

Payoff: Experts tell lottery commissioners to remind Arkansans why they voted for the lottery. Namely, because they hope to score a big-ass pile of free money. (Arkansas Business)

    So are you as jewbilant as I am over this swine flu thing being unfounded?

    If McDaniel can get those auto warranty calls to end I’ll throw him a party. In fact, I’ll throw a jewbilee.

    Do you think the first winner of Arkansas’ lottery will give us all a gift? Maybe he’ll give us all something he bought at the gas station that sold him the winning ticket, maybe some jew jew beans.

    Bill,
    I was going to ask you to step in to the 2010 Senate race, but now I’m having second thoughts about that.

    I worked around him for several years, and I am here to say that Hendren is definitely NOT a race-baiting-RINO-ignoramus. I really can’t recall a single instance of him doing any race baiting.

    It is too bad he let slip with this comment at this time. He would have been good for uttering dozens of stupidities before being banished in the Republican primary. Imagine the thoughtful prose that could have oozed from the keyboard of the ARPro guy. Why, later in the campaign, he might have resorted to as many as 3 posts on the occasional day just to cover all the journalistic angles. (DK, please don’t think for an instant that I am trying to tell you what to write. I would not want to set off another testy yet sullen blogging gnat tirade.)

    Still, it is a shame all the same. Now we are left to sit and wonder, “What if?”

  • Here at America’s Power, we know not everyone is following what’s happening in Washington, but right now there’s a hotly debated bill in Congress called Waxman-Markey that deals with the issue of climate change.

    We need a climate plan that’s affordable and effective. Arkansans should support a plan that:

    * Achieves emissions reductions
    * Creates jobs
    * Preserves fuel diversity as a means of promoting greater energy independence
    * Protects consumers against unnecessarily high energy costs

    We support a federal plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but the Waxman-Markey bill needs to do more to guarantee that consumers are protected from unnecessary increases in energy costs. Because without these changes the bill is not affordable – and therefore, not effective.

    Get involved by telling Rep. Ross to fight for a bill that’s affordable and effective.

    Thank you, Monica, for that completely irrelevant and self-serving spam comment that has absolutely nothing to do with anything that is being discussed in this post or on this comment thread. Christ, these f**kin’ DC people.

  • David, you are right 98.79% of the time. So, it pains me to point out that Congressman Waxman is Jewish, making monica right on point.

    I’m sorry David. I really am.

    Well, maybe, DumbArkie. I’m still just not sure it’s entirely kosher…

  • Oh, by the way, I thought my disembodied head was going to be superimposed on the Patriot Girls.

    Also, I’ve decided on a career change…makeup artist for the Patriot Girls. I’m quite sure I could do a better job of applying that camo makeup.
