Stuff From Around Arkansas, July 6

Went out of town this weekend, had virtually no web access and experienced a near complete news blackout. It was lovely. I highly recommend it.

Charm Offensive: Wow, this Ernie Passalaigue character who’s running the Arkansas lottery is just charming everyone left and right. Everybody loves him already! (AP)

Ross Vs. Rosson?: Republican Marc Rosson says he’ll challenge Democratic Rep. Mike Ross in Arkansas’ Fourth District. Here’s his website. (Arkansas Times)

Crap and Trade: Columnist David Sanders gives Democratic Reps. Mike Ross and Marion Berry a thumbs up for voting against cap and trade legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives. Thumbs down to Rep. Vic Snyder, the only Arkansas Congressman to OK the bill. (Arkansas News Bureau)

Marathonners: Sarah Palin will resign from the Alaska governorship for some reason or another. Is this good for Mike Huckabee’s 2012 political aspirations? Or bad for Huckabee? Let’s everyone obsess over this now for a few days until we can find some other pointless nonsense to latch on to. (Beliefnet.com and Washington Post)
