House Speaker Robbie Wills
House Speaker Robbie Wills delivers votes to his master, Gov. Mike Beebe

Whip It: Gov. Mike Beebe says getting votes on cigarette tax hike will be tougher in state Senate than in House, which was much easier because Speaker Robert “Robbie” Wills is an android programmed to do Beebe’s bidding at all times. (AP)

Tailgunner: Another article on blogging legislators, and just to be clear, Majority Leader Steve Harrelson is NOT just like Sen. Joseph McCarthy. (Arkansas Times)

Labor Dispute: Bill filed in House would target contractors who hire illegal immigrants, so I guess I’m going to have to get rid of that kid I hired to scour the Internet for nude photos of Tina Sherman. “Me gusta buscar a las fotografias pornograficas, Senor Kinkade,” he told me when we talked yesterday. I guess it’s back to Guatemala and harvesting pineapples with a machete for $3 a week for him. (Arkansas News Bureau)

Stuff Your Sorries in a Sack: GOP Rep. Mark Martin has to apologize for heckling Democratic House member during speech, because Arkansas legislators are a big bunch of whiny little girls. “Ohmigosh! He yelled out during my speech! I’m telling the Governor!” God, these guys would just fold up into a ball if they had to, say, set foot in the British House of Commons. (Politics in Arkansas blog)

The Critic: Blake Rutherford, in an ill-advised fit of candor, admits that he goes to see chick flicks, opening up an entirely new avenue for mockery by me. Arkansas Project Girlfriend (APG) was insisting that I take her to see “He’s Just Not That Into You” tonight, so to get out of it I ‘accidentally’ slammed my hand in the car door. Pretty neat trick, huh? By the way, does anyone have access to morphine? (Blake’s Think Tank)

That’s just ridiculous that Rep. Martin had to apologize. Whiny little girls with seemingly little ability to think on their own, they are.

If I hear one more elected official talk about how they legislated with a balanced budget (note all the Presidential debates with Huck) and act like we should all be kissing their feet for it, I might be forced to vomit. It is the freaking law and I’m just glad Rep. Martin was there to remind them of it. They’re not doing anything special, just what the law requires of them.

    Yippie freaking skippie…

Of course, this isn’t the only time Rep. Martin has been required to visit the well of the House to issue an apology for one of his intemperate outbursts. Same thing happened during his first session back in 2005 for pretty much the same reason.

The boys and girls of the House do have their decorum. Apparently, that doesn’t extend to the Governor and Speaker. Ask Dawn Creekmore about her experience with her domestic violence bill in committee and the threat to hold it there. The sucker died for lack of a second is all. I guess she got her message because she folded on the cigarette tax like a $2 suitcase.

Don’t think for a second that some serious hardball wasn’t being played behind the scenes. Rep. Cooper knows. Rep. Creekmore knows. Lots more know too, but these names were on the receiving end of some pretty vicious political gamesmanship.

The kind of gamesmanship to make Rep. Martin’s outburst look even more trivial than it was.

Indeed, Cameron. Yet even in victory, Speaker Wills has the temerity to retreat to his blog and start whining about how mean the rump minority GOP caucus was in declining to pair votes, forcing a dying Democrat to abandon his sickbed to cast a noble final vote in favor of the cigarette tax hike! The fiends!

Gregg Reep….what a joke. Bradley County has to have the worst, most uninformed, voters in the state, maybe the nation.

Well, I don’t know about Rep. Smith, but it would be interesting for some enterprising MSM journalist (oxymoron?) to contact Rep. Cooper and find out just what exactly made him change his mind within the last few hours of the vote. As of the morning hours, he was a firm no. As of an hour or so before the vote, he had folded just like Rep. Creekmore did. There was some serious pressure being applied.

Interesting how the Dem leadership had absolutely no qualms whatsoever in holding up the domestic violence bill sponsored by Creekmore “to show the little lady her her place” in the legislative process. You don’t vote for the Leadership’s bill, your bill doesn’t even see the light of day out of committee, no matter the “goodness” of your bill. I guess we are to understand from this that Speaker Wills prefers domestic violence fall by the wayside if he can’t raise taxes.

Speaking of spineless bastards who can be bought for the price of a chairmanship, Ragland sure showed his stripes in this. He has always been someone you might or might not be able to count on, but he sure showed it for Republicans today. Hopefully we can see his commercials for the Lt. Gov. position heralding his tax and spend positions in the coming months.

There are some interesting whispers in the halls. St. Beebe may have well won the battle and the hearts and minds of the liberal press and the rest of the MSM press who are mindless sniveling bastards (that covers all of them doesn’t it?), but his heavy handed tactics may wind up costing him in the long run.

And finally, the Senate may not be the easy street that some in the MSM press have predicted. I am hearing they have 10 of the 9 votes to kill it in hand (6 R, 4 D). It will be interesting to see who folds on this issue. Several of these folks are term limited and might just not give a tinker’s damn about St. Beebe and his my-way-or-the-highway attitude.

Although it boggles the mind, it appears Cameron Bluff could have mistaken which bill Rep. Creekmore had held up in committee. Apparently, instead of the domestic violence bill which had a majority of the committee suddenly disappear from hearing, it was the Partial Birth Abortion Ban. So, instead of wives being beaten that Robbie Wills wants to make an issue of with Creekmore, he would rather suck the brains out of viable young children to ensure an onerous tax is placed on Arkansas Citizens. Yes, that is a much more understandable choice.

Cameron was wrong to thing Robbie didn’t mind husbands beating up on wives. Robbie would much rather the brains of unborn children be suched out.

I see his point now. The MSM Press should feel much relieved to be advised of this.

Cameron was wrong to THINK. Cameron was wrong to THINK… not thing as he or she erroneously typed in. And Cameron mispelled Suck and typed in Such.

And another misspelling, Speaker Robbie wants the brains of unborn children SUCKED out. Let me make that clear. He made sure that sufficient votes did not show up to protect unborn children from having their brains SUCKED out.

Fortunately, he did raise taxes on Arkansans.

  • I think a resolution against sucking the brains from babies would pass unanimously.
