Searcy’s Ramey to Join GOP Senate Primary Field (Updated! Hendren Sighting!)
Hmm, let’s see if we can make this easier: Will all the Arkansas Republicans who are NOT thinking about running for U.S. Senate raise your hands? A fellow named Fred Ramey, a Republican from Searcy, announces today that he’s going to file paperwork to run against Sen. Blanche Lincoln.
UPDATE: Meanwhile, Sen. Kim Hendren, another GOP candidate for Senate, wonders if maybe we shouldn’t revisit this whole business about popular election of senators, the AP’s Andrew Demillo reports, because….oh, hell, I couldn’t even begin to explain why this is now an issue.

Who?
It is great that so many want to be involved – I just wish some of these unknown/untested Republican candidates would look at some of the local races.
This is becoming a joke.
I think it’s great there are some unknown people entering this race. Do we really want more of the same – politicians who are tainted? Today, the political system needs some new blood, desperately!
Really Kim you want to repeal the 17th amendment?
I love lamp.
“Hendren said earlier at the forum that he believed the amendment had made the Senate less responsive to the people” Seriously? Somehow not being elected by the people would make you more responsive to them? I wonder if he realizes we would never (at least for a while) have a Republican senator from Arkansas if this was the case.
I hear this Tom Cotton fellow is getting in the race in August. I’d put my money on him to win this primary. In fact, depending on how the national winds blow, he has a good chance to be our next U.S. Senator.
Bill,
It will be nice to have a Senator who is an actual leader instead of someone who swings depending on the direction of the political winds.
How much more impact does Coleman’s “Hutchinson problem” hurt his chances in the wake of the Ensign and Sanford affairs.
It is good to know that people are finally realizing that we need a new and fresh face to stand up and be a VOICE for the people, It is time WE THE PEOPLE have a voice that will be heard all the way to Washington. And will not swing depending on the way the political winds blow. But someone that truly cares about the people and their needs. It is time we elect a Leader that cares,.His name is Trevor Drown, the Independent, green beret, from Russellville, He will stand for the people and with the people.TrevorDrown.com and Daretomakeadifference.com
