Poll: Health Care Reform Support Shaky in Arkansas

Arkansans doubt benefits of health care reform.

OK, Jesus Christ, enough! I’m posting the new polling results about Arkansans’ attitudes toward health care reform that are floating around today, since I’ve had like six people send them to me this morning.

The Tarrance Group, a GOP political consulting firm, polled Arkansans with a battery of questions related to Obamacare, in mid-August, and came back with a wealth of results that, in general, suggest a great deal of skepticism among Arkansas voters when it comes Democratic plans for health care reform.

The poll was conducted on behalf of Patients United Now, and the key finding is in the slide above, which notes that most respondents aren’t convinced that the Dem health care reform plans will benefit them or their families.

Say, here’s a nutty idea: What if…try to follow me here…what if the Obamacare crowd actually tried to convince people of the merits of their plan, instead of constantly criticizing and insulting and whining about those who dissent from their proposals? Oh, never mind, that’s an insane idea. I don’t know what I was thinking.

If you want the full report, click on over to the Tarrance Group site and click on the links at the top of the page.

Last month, Roby Brock at Talk Business polled key questions about Arkansans’ attitudes toward their own health care, and found that 86 percent were “very satisfied” or “somewhat satisfied” with their current health care. The Tarrance Group’s findings are of a piece with Roby’s results.

Distrustful of the Tarrance Group’s partisan lean? Then keep an eye on Public Policy Polling, a Democratic firm that teases upcoming Arkansas numbers via Twitter with a note that “less than half of white dems [in Arkansas] are with Obama on health care.”

And in a weekend analysis, the AP’s Andrew Demillo explored Arkansas’ emergence as a “battleground” in the health care reform debate.

I’m very interested to see PPP’s polling on the U.S. Senate race on Wednesday. If she’s below 40% approval Tom Cotton will kill her.

You guys are funny, Tom Cotton isn’t even viable and never was. He is not registered to vote in Arkansas and the deadline has passed. You need to be a year out before the primary. Don’t take my word for it. Go ahead look it up do your own research. That was one of many reasons he bowed out.

  • Jack – First, how do you know where Tom Cotton is registered to vote? Most serviceman fighting overseas are registered in their home voting districts. I honestly don’t know where he is registered but I am guessing it is not Afganstan.

Second, it doesn’t not matter as I am pretty sure this rule does not exist.

Tom is registered to vote in Yell County. He has been for may years. Tom will be the Republican nominee and it seems very likely that he will win next Fall.

Actually there is a rule Tolbert, like I said do the research, also check out your own party bylaws. As to being registered in Yell county. Once he registered in another state and voted, it negated all previous registrations prior. This includes the ones in Mass, where he lived for seven years and voted. Coleman’s people know all this and it has already been taken care of. Why do you think Cotton’s name is no longer posted on Wikepedia as a potential candidate? But no worries, there are other issues, the man just needs to be left alone. If he wanted the attention he would have committed more. Although being Active duty he is limited in what he can do. That is why Romeny’s people refunded back his $200 contribution in the last race.

Oh, hell Ken. You kill me! See? You’re implying that the average Arkansan is too damn dumb to know what to think about this thing! I get it! That’s funny. They couldn’t have had an independent thought on this? I mean, Max Brantley, John Brummett, Gwen Moritz and Blake Rutherford have spoken! They can’t be wrong, can they? So obviously, the idiots of Arkansas have been duped by some sort of misleading question! HA! What a bunch of idiots Arkansans are. They’re rubes! Buffoons! Nimrods! Neanderthals! They are too stupid to understand this. If they did, they would support it! They’re so stupid they fell for a pollster’s trick! HA! HA! Idiots! They’ll boil in their own pudding when they get sick and no one will be there to pay for their medical care! Just wait until they’re dead, Ken. Then the idiots will know just how stupid they are. Fools. Idiots.

But here’s the best part, Ken. You’re enlightened. You get it. So it is your job and the job of all the folks lurking over at the Times blog to tell all these Arkansans just how damn dumb they are. Go get Death By Inches and eLwood and Zelda and you guys post a rant about how stupid we all are and be sure to point out that people are racist that don’t support it. Because, by God, that’s how you change people’s minds! Once you tell people how dumb they are, they’ll wise up right away and agree with you. Also, call their mother a whore and they’ll really love you!

You’ve got it, kid! Now, run with it! Work it!

Wait a minute, Jack, did you just use Wikipedia as a source for why you’re right? Seriously…You don’t know what you’re talking about. Tom has been registered in Arkansas for years. Additionally, there is no “party bylaw” that says you have to have lived and registered in state for over a year prior to a primary. The law you are talking about is a state law and it pertains to general elections not primaries.

Jack, I kind of feel bad stupid even responding to your posts. Nothing you’ve said yet has any basis in truth.

David, I’m sorry. As I was typing my last message I felt like I was being pulled into a vortex of suck but I just couldn’t escape. Tell your mother to let me move back in and give me a piece and I’ll quit f***ing up your blog.

I agree with your original blog post 100%. I’m sure you feel better knowing that. I don’t know much about Cotton but he has alot to live up to regarding his buildup.

  • Hugh Hewett suggested that opponents of Obamacare could make their voices really be heard by a key player –Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid– if they sent $10 to Danny Tarkanian, Reid’s only declared opponent in the 2010 election, and then e-mailed Senator Reid that they had done so because of his support for Obamacare and would continue to send more contributions to Tarkanian if Senator Reid continues to support the radical overhaul of American medicine.

Danny Tarkanian is the only declared opponent of Senator Reid in next November’s election, and you can contribute online to Tarkanian’s campaign here [cut and paste -also website address above]: https://co.clickandpledge.com/sp/d1/default.aspx?wid=28459
