Obamacare Exchanges, Day 1: Add Arkansas To The List Of States Without Access

click-to-call-explosionMuch to the surprise of, well, no one, the Obamacare exchanges that were set to go live today are failing miserably all over the country. States with state-based exchanges like Oregon and California have been experiencing serious glitches, but the federal exchange is also experiencing outages, leaving virtually everyone without access.
In Arkansas, we have a “state exchange” — which we’ve been told was going to create all of this “competition and efficiency” and a “better consumer experience” — but the Deputy Commissioner of the exchange, Cynthia Crone, told lawmakers yesterday that Arkansans can’t actually enroll in the exchange via the Arkansas Health Connector website. Instead, the Arkansas website simply leads Arkansans to the federal portal/exchange.
One of our loyal readers tried to access the federal portal today and got this error message:

Another fan of our Facebook Page sent in this screenshot, which hilariously couples a picture of the Obamacare exchange failings with a Mike “Deciding vote for Obamacare” Ross for Governor ad:

When I tried to access the portal, I got a different error message:

And I’ve also been unable to reach anyone through the “user-friendly” live chat. It’s been about an hour:

On the first day of Obamacare, it seems we are well on our way to a third-world experience.
