Arkansas Legislature

Now Get Back to Work!

Arkansas legislators are terrible and so they took the day off today, but fear not, they’ll be back tomorrow, all fresh-faced and full of beans after a long weekend.

The Arkansas News Bureau offers a forecast of what’s to come this week, which is expected to include consideration of Attorney General  Dustin McDaniel’s initiative to make animal cruelty a felony. While this measure was rather controversial a couple of years ago, it appears that McDaniel’s brought everyone together to pass this thing now and no one will ever be mean to animals again.

To illustrate this newfound harmony, the Arkansas News Bureau website includes alongside the story this photo of an adorable little puppy, just in case there’s anyone out there who is still opposed to the animal cruelty bill (click on image for larger version with enhanced adorability). If you are one of those people, then the Arkansas News Bureau includes this photo so that you will know that you are a coldhearted wretch who wants the adorable little puppy in the photo to be tortured and killed. I hope you like having blood on your hands, jerk.

Our AG will go out of his way to parade his animal cruelty bill but WILL NOT stand up for innocent babies. For the 3rd consecutive year, McDaniel has missed the March for Life.

Chickens before children. I’m sure that’s something Arkansans can believe in.

I wish the Arkansas News Bureau would follow the lead of The Arkansas Project in the selection of their photos. They could have have just as easily posted up a photo of a nice warm and not-so-fuzzy young bikini clad co-ed and made their point just as well.

Mr. ARPro Guy, my hat is off to you for sticking to your journalistic integrity. Anyone can post up photos of puppies and kittens and baby birds. It takes a real man to buck the trend and post up the photos you provide.

We did some pretty intense focus grouping on that very question, Cameron — I’d show the control group a standard Arkansas Project post with a chick in a bikini, then I’d show the test group the same post, but with an adorable puppy or kitten image to accompany. The “chicks in bikinis” posts tested off the charts, while the puppies and kittens posts were dismissed and derided as “totally gay-wad.”

I, for one, am excited about a law that bans animal cruelty. My dog bites me ever chance it gets. I believe it is a sadist. But I keep going back to him. I am a battered owner. One reason is because I know there are no laws to keep him from being mean to me. Now, I will be able to charge him with animal cruelty when he treats me this way. Truculent little bastard, I’ll show him!! I’ll file charges!! Hurray AG Micky D! Huzzah!
