GOP, Dems Square Off in UALR Debate

As it happens, the Joe Biden vs. Sarah Palin vice-presidential smackdown on Thursday is only the SECOND most anticipated debating event of this week: Tonight’s the big Young Democrats vs. Young Republicans debate at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock starting at 7 p.m. (Here’s the site with all the relevant stats.)

Maybe Greenberg will send us a report of what goes down. Definitely let us know if it ends in a rumble.

  • Real hard-hitting articles you have going as of late. Why no commentary on the big Wallstreet Bailout?

Geez, Hill, that’s rather snotty, given that this is something I do for no pay.

  • Sorry David. You are right. I was just getting tired of listening and watching responses from those who I knew exactly what they were going to say before they said it. I figured you would at least provide abit of unpredicatibility to the debate.

  • Well, how was it? Were Greenberg’s responses held to a 10-minute minimum?

  • I went to the debate. Greenberg was awesome. The Republicans had a really sharp, good looking girl from the College Republicans debating for them too. There was some other hillbilly debating for the Republicans named Emis, he seemed like a real a-hole. All in all it was an excellent debate.

Yes, that Emis character is a real piece of work, Bill. I understand he has some relations down Grant County way. Perhaps you know them.

Our very own Sarah Palin! Thanks for the update, Bill. Emis as a hillbilly…nice..must have been smoking a corn-cob pipe instead of his usual cigar.

  • Is this Keith Emis, the guy that did the hit pieces on Huckabee back during the primary? Are you sure he was speaking for the Republicans?

  • It is very easy to not like Mike Huckabee and be a Republican. The overwhelming majority of Republicans didn’t support Huckabee this past primary season.

  • I am sure you can, Mr. Reagan (or is this Jon Woods as the link is to the Jon Woods for State Rep website – not sure what that is about?) The comment was somewhat tongue in check however I will point out that Gov. Huckabee did receive over 60% of the vote during the Republican Primary. I am sure Mr. Emis is very comfortable with the minority of Republicans who voted for someone else.

Jason, surely you don’t think Huckabee is a conservative?

  • Arkansas is the only state where Mike Huckabee got a majority of the vote until the race, was for all intents and purposes, over. Huckabee was rejected by the overwhelming majority of Republican voters.

  • Wow, I am not sure how we all of such made that leap to this question. But yes, I support Huckabee; yes, I am a conservative; and yes, I consider Huckabee to be one as well. Now, we could all pretend it is January 2008 and argue the merits of this all day but I doubt any of us would change our minds.

My point and my question still, which I don’t think was ever answered, is Keith Emis, who made a name for himself by making controversial attacks on Gov. Huckabee during the primary, the person who was supposed to represent Arkansas Republicans at this debate? Sorry if my commentary about the question distracted from the question itself.

Also, my new question, Mr. Reagan, can you please satisfy my insane curiosity and clarify if you are Jon Woods. And if not, why you link to his website?

Yes, he is the one and the same Emis who did yeoman’s work toward educating voters in other states about the Huckster.

    Could be. You never know.

  • What is this? The new Arkansas Times blog bashing Huckabee on a blog post that had absolutely nothing to do with him? Debate must have been that entertaining.

LawDog, this is NOT the new Arkansas Times blog. That’s an insult to the Arkansas Times. We’re much worse than that.
