Eddie Joe Williams Eyeing Senate District 28 Seat

Here’s one for your lists, obsessive 2010 political watchers. Cabot Mayor Eddie Joe Williams (R) is said to be looking at a run for the Senate seat in District 28. I checked with Williams today and he said he’s been approached about running, he’s considering and he’ll announce his decision soon.

The seat is currently held by Democrat Bobby Glover, who’s term-limited.

  • Is it just me or does everyone thinking about running for office say “I have been approached about running” I would love for just once, a potential candidate to say; “no one has approached me about running, no one thinks I should run nor really cares if I run or not; but I’m still seriously considering it”.

Good point, Donnie. Or maybe this: “Many, many people have warned me against running, including my wife, who says she will leave me. But my thirst for power is so great I cannot be stopped!” I don’t know why someone doesn’t kick off a campaign with that, just to see what happens.

No one has approached me about running, no one thinks I should run nor really cares if I run or not; but Iā€™m still seriously considering it, and more to the point, many, many people have warned me against running, including my wife, who says she will leave me. But my thirst for power is so great I cannot be stopped. Therefore, on this incredible communications device, one doubtless heard world-wide, I hearby announce my intentions to consider the possiblities afforded me by the numerous open seats in my area.

There guys, are you satisfied now?????

Cameron, that is a powerful statement of purpose. Gave me chills. Or maybe I have swine flu. Not sure.

  • Now Mr. Admin, I know you take pride in being the laziest blogger in the world, and you never go to the capitol during session, etc, etc, etc. BUT, are you really gonna let Steve Harrelson scoop you by 2 MONTHS and then treat this as breaking news?

    Not kidding. He really did.

I mean I know you are working on being the Republicans answer to Roby Brock with your multimedia presence and all….but you let a guy who never breaks any news on his blog beat you.

  • If the Republicans want to win that seat they need to get a farmer from Arkansas County to run. If the Republican candidate can get 40% of the vote in Arkansas County he will win.

Only in Arkansas can a fella’ named Eddie Joe run for a seat and generate this much serious discussion on a political blog.
God, I love our state. Here’s to the Eddie Joe’s!

  • Really? Why do I get the sinking feeling that all of you claim to be so very interested in the issues of the state, and yet your bite turns out to be a bunch of jokes? Eddie Joe is a great candidate for this office, and will win if he runs. Does anyone know what his official stance is regarding the larger (and more important issues) facing our state?

So, uh, I take it this is your first visit to The Arkansas Project, Issues? Welcome! Anyway, it’s rather premature to be talking about people’s campaign platforms. At this point, it’s just a scrap of political gossip ā€” Williams is thinking about running. He may get in. He may not. That’s it. Do what you will with that piece of trivia.

But this blog has never been an issues forum, and most likely won’t be. Hit the blogroll at bottom right to visit some of our blogging friends around the state who might have more of the substance you crave. There’s some good stuff out there. But, God knows, you won’t find it here.
