Arkansas GOP: Looking Ahead to 2010

It’s day three of the 2009 legislative session and I was bored with it two days ago. So let’s look ahead to the 2010 races, and throw some mindless speculation into the mix. That should be interesting!

Here’s an article from Southern Political Report offering up a look at the chances for Arkansas Republicans to regroup in ’10. Party executive director Karen Ray promises candidates for governor and the senate to challenge Mike Beebe and Blanche Lincoln, respectively. A few names are floated on the Senate race, but you’ve heard them all before here.

And, uh, that’s that. Huh. Now that I think about it, that wasn’t very interesting at all.

  • For the record, I have a plan to get rich. Its a great plan. All I need is a lot of money, the perfect storm of circumstances, and then I will be rich. Why? Because the poor are vulnerable.

The question that no one is asking, D., is who are the R’s gonna run for that ever so tantalizing State Auditors seat? With all the trappings a statewide office contains, who, pray tell will fight tooth and nail to replace Jim Wood?

Good question, Br549. I propose we put forth a stellar team of Arkansas Project Usual Suspects for the GOP’s 2010 slate. Auditor might be a good slot for Cameron Bluff or Fourche River Rex.

  • I would also like to see who will run for Secretary of State, and who will run in CDs 1, 2 and 4.

Those positions need to be a focus as well.

Well. Given what was said in the above mentioned article, they wont run anyone for the CDs.

Sec of State is where they should spend the most effort.
    Forget Blanche.

    D.,

Thanks for thinking of me, but honestly, I’d rather watch pigs eat my baby brother. I can’t think of a bigger joke than the RPA. Who’s going to run for an office in this state as a Republican when the party is essentially a popularity contest? Whomever wins the favor of a few people gets touted as the greatest thing for the party sinced sliced bread.
For instance, how many times have we heard about Tom Cotton? He may be the greatest guy in the world, but how many people in Arkansas know him? Could he walk down he street in Little Rock and be recognized by anybody? I doubt it. You hear his name, but how many of you have met him? But he’ll get talked into running by three or four people associated with the party, he’ll try to raise money and he won’t be able to raise any and he won’ be able to compete against Lincoln. And he’ll lose. Then he’ll disappear, all bitter because no body would put their support behind him and then we won’t hear from him again. And then a few people will start rumors about why he wasn’t successful and will bad mouth him, despite the fact that they were the ones that talked him into running to begin with.
And then it will happen again in the Governor’s race and all the state wide races, including auditor.
What we need is a farm team. Some people in the legislature that we can recruit from. I’m afraid that most of our people in the legislature are so far off the map that they couldn’t ever get elected to a state wide office if they were running against a communist cross-dressing, child molesting drug mule with a speech impediment and a lazy eye. And the legislators that could get elected aren’t interested in running. So, we’re skeeeeeruuuuude.

Stupid communist cross-dressing, child molesting drug mule with a speech impediment and a lazy eye. Thinks he’s so tough.

Do you think we could get him to switch parties?

Well, I mean, everyone has his price. So, probably.

I like Fourche River Rex. I can’t think of a bigger joke than the RPA either. They didn’t decide to focus on local races, they decided to beg for money so the could cover their bloated salaries and rent for the last 6 months. The fact of the matter is that they didn’t do one productive thing for anybody, UNLESS they would also benefit from it. For every $1 you give the RPA, 98 cents of it goes to pay for salaries and expenses, NOT to help candidates. Get rid of Karen Ray and the other money hounds, then we might have a chance.

As best I recall, Karen Ray is kinda hot.
I can and will be corrected on that if I am wrong.
Plus, it seems like she’s an import. Mississippi? Maybe Tennessee.
The problem with the Republicans is that are marginalized to the corners of the state. Anyone think some cracker from Mountain Home could get elected to a state-wide race and, yeah, I’m looking at you Shawn Womack.
Same goes for the lunatic fringe in the northwest corner and central Arkansas Republicans are either so rich, they won’t bother with running, or so name lacking they don’t have a chance.
Plus half the state’s Dems are really Republicans anyway.

By the way, there isn’t a lazy bone in my body…oh, I guess the eye isn’t really a bone.

I would consider running for Auditor, but then again, I never had a state prize winning pig to use in my advertisements. Now, in 82, I dated a…never mind. I don’t need people to start considering me a male chauvinist (an extreme and unreasoning partisan on behalf of a group to which one belongs) or something like that.
