VIDEO: Greenberg Testifies Against Prevailing Wage Law

Dan Greenberg, in his post earlier this morning, wrote about his experience before the House Public Health, Welfare, and Labor Committee yesterday. I went and grabbed some video off of the House website of Mr. Greenberg’s exchange with state lawmakers. His comments start just a little ways into the clip below — because, in true governmental fashion, the House website’s video editing features are inefficient.

Things got a little tense at times. Grab your popcorn:

  • It’s eerily fascinating to watch Representative Murdock get more and more upset. Murdock has nothing to bring to the debate but insults.

So, Mr. Murdock states that when you have competitive bidding on projects, the “savings” go to the contractors? Let’s see if I have my math right using a simple example:
An example job would normally cost $10M using the prevailing wage methodology.
Competitive bids come in at $8M as the best bid for the same job.
Who just saved $2M? The contractor or the people of the state of Arkansas? Seems pretty obvious to me. Who was it that Mr. Murdock said didn’t understand how this works?

He seems awfully frustrated when somebody has facts and statistics that disagree with his opinions.

  • Hello, There’s no doubt that your website could possibly be having internet browser compatibility issues. When I look at your blog in Safari, it looks fine however, if opening in I.E., it’s got some overlapping issues.
I just wanted to give you a quick heads up!
    Besides that, fantastic site!
