Oh noes!! Somebody is wrong on the internets!! I must respond!!

Sorry If it seemed like I lumped you in with a group D- it wasn't intentional. I enjoy your blog and your posts precisely because you're not in a category. As far as Nemo or any other poster- I simply couldn't care less.

My point was, maybe Republicans should stop and take a look around. These Teabagger parties are a bunch of middle aged white guys who watch Fox news. How much diversity did you see at the Capitol the other day? Maybe, just maybe, they should consider reaching out to other groups. If that observation offends people, so be it- but I hope it makes them think about it.

And Bob- I was in First Cav- which is pretty much the same thing as the Glee Club.

P.S. For that matter, AFG, I have no idea what Nemo's politics might be, since you lumped him/her in there with me. He/she comments here frequently, but the comments don't generally reflect a strong ideological bias. I suspect he/she may be just as difficult to categorize as you celebrate yourself for being.

AFG,
The problem here is that you are assuming that, since I self-identify politically as a Republican, that is some all-encompassing category that explains everything I say. But if I criticize Gene Lyons for writing something patently foolish, I'm not necessarily writing that as a "Republican" -- I'm writing that as a "blogger" or a "media observer" or a "media consumer" or whatever you wanna call it. His foolishness and complacency is independent of political categories.

You bristle when I poked back at you with the same tired political labeling game, because you feel it doesn't capture you in all your glorious subtlety and complexity, but you're not willing to extend the same courtesy or generosity to others. You might ponder that for a while while you're patting yourself on the back for being so "open minded." Methinks.

Oh I'm awake-

But for the record- I'm no liberal, an open-minded person perhaps, but no liberal. I voted republican, democrat, green party, and independent this last election. No straight "R" like most here. I try to think for myself. And yes, maybe "try" is the operative word.

And I'll defend the right for these people to peacefully assemble and protest to my dying breath- in fact- I'm a veteran- but I can also use my noggin.

All this BS having been said, methinks I have been taken too seriously. My point was- youse guys might want to rethink your strategeries. Or not. I really don't care.

Is this the direction liberalism is headed? Unleashing irrelevant emotional appeals to sanctimoniously defend complacent and ignorant old journalists whose tender feelings may be wounded by a little richly deserved ridicule from those below him on the social status scale? While at the same time taking gratuitous swipes at average people peaceably assembling to express their dissent with government fiscal policy?

Seriously AFG- take this as a wake-up call.

Is that all you repubs got left? Poking fun at an award winning journalist that has a heart for neglected animals? Doing a circle jerk with a bunch of other white dudes claiming the country is going to hell in a hand-basket because the rich are paying a bit more again? Really?

Seriously guys- take this as a wake-up call.
