In this dark cloud of Robbie Goebbels new propaganda office we are overlooking the silver lining of an employee being unceremoniously dumped from sipping needlessly at the public trough. Good riddance for Mr. Steed, good riddance!

"But the House has an institutional identity separate and apart from the membership. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts" A quote from Wills insipid diatribe. While there is partial truth to the statement- the house is an institution - if he really believes that why does he have a picture of just himself on the house web page. Also, wasnt there discussion/proposal by Harrelson of putting the house debates online? And "the leadership" said there was not enough money. I think it could be done for what they will be paying another ex policitican for "consulting". So instead of reading/seeing it with our own eyes- someone else will write it up for us.

And also doesn't this breakthru in a new and improved communication office available to all 100 voices sort of fly in the face of the story done recently about "the leadership" talking with a member about appropriate blogging of committee meetings?

Are we sure this isn't simply a case of an embarrassed Speaker having to find a friend a job? I'll bet Robbie promised Craig the lottery commission ad gig. In order to save face, Robbie had to scramble and create this new position when the lottery commission snubbed Craig. What does it say about Douglass' PR skills if the lottery commission wouldn't hire him? I thought they hired anyone Bob or Robbie recommended.

It would have cost practically nothing for the Legislature to buy a network server and give each Senator and Representative a home page and mailing list software for constituent communications. Then the reps would have an official forum where they can advocate for themselves. That is how members of the U.S. Congress operate their web sites. This could have been done without disturbing the non-partisan mission of the Information Office, which no one had expressed any complaints about previously, until Craig Douglass and Robbie Wills cooked up this public relations fiasco.
