As long as this lobbyist follows campaign finance laws (e.g. gets 15 people to donate $2,000), THIS IS NOT A CRIME. It is completely legal to raise money for a candidate – and it should be. You raise money for people who vote with you on the issues and you raise money against people whose voting record you don’t like. It’s freedom of expression people.

Mark Pryor has accumulated a goodly number of negatives. When his mother-in-law tried to close a business and skate on millions owed the IRS in taxes, some kind of IRS magic got worked in Washington and the investigation went bye-bye. All that while Pryor’s wife was making repeat visits to the Cayman Islands. If that seems fishy to you it might explain those dwindling poll numbers. When the “Girls Gone Wild” scandal got explained away it still didn’t clear the air on Pryor’s association with Chad Brownstein and it brought out some facts about how much “support” money he had exchanged with Pryor. It would seem Pryor’s wife wanted to abandon ship also filing for divorce. If the Republicans are smart enough not to beat themselves up in a primary, Pryor will lose handily.

“Vote for the PO and we’ll fundraise for you”

“Vote for the PO and we’ll primary you”

He doesn’t know the guy’s name, and he’d never talked to the guy before? Then how on earth does he know:

1. That the guy was a lobbyist;
2. That the guy was serious; and
3. That this wasn’t a false-flag operation by a PO opponent?

I call bullshit on that.

When you are the State’s TREASURER and someone that has recently received a major increase in the state’s business is secretly giving you $6,000 CASH hidden in a pie box, and then you admit to police it was wrong to take that money, you must immediately resign. Yes, she’s innocent until proven guilty per the court system, but the bar is and should be much higher for elected officials. I think calls for her to resign over the weekend were a bit premature, because the exact details hadn’t been announced. But, as soon as the criminal complaint was made public Monday – unveiling all the aforementioned details – anyone not calling for her to resign is lacking some good ole common sense.
