Arkansas Political Mailbag: Former Party Chairmen Edition
A couple of pieces from the mailbag, focusing on a former Arkansas Republican Party chair and a former Arkansas Democratic Party chair:
Sen. Gilbert Baker in District 30 faces Democratic challenger Joe White in his re-election campaign. Last week, Baker and White sparred over an anonymous attack mailer that White’s campaign had sent out attempting to hit Baker on a range of issues.
An Arkansas Project correspondent sends along a response mailer that Baker has sent out to set the record straight (click images to enlarge):
Meanwhile, Max Brantley at the Arkansas Times has more on the two campaigns sniping over guns, after the National Rifle Association endorsed Baker for re-election.
In other news, former Dem chief Jason Willett is making a run for mayor up in scenic Jonesboro in northeast Arkansas, and we’ve got word that he’s going to be making a stop in Little Rock next week to raise funds for the race. It’s at the Oyster Bar on Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 5-7 p.m. I’m having a little trouble getting the invite to size properly, but here’s the general idea, as provided by an Arkansas Project reader:
